The people of Israel's mass murder at the hands of the Nazi's in WW2 Posted 02/03/2011

¹ The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. ² He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. ³ He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign LORD, you alone know.” ¹¹ Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ - Ezekiel 37:1-11 (NKJV)

There are many prophecies in the Bible which speak about Israel's exile to the nations and the numerous times they would be conquered and held captive but non is as striking as the Valley of the Dry Bones Prophecy in Ezekiel Chapter 37.

Nazi Germany's 'Final Solution' called for the capture and mass murder of the Jews. In concentration camps such as Auschwitz the Jews were taken, striped of their belongings and clothes then sent into gas chambers where they were poisoned with cyanide gas and there bodies thrown into ovens or mass graves. Understanding this we can see the relevance of this prophecy referring to the people of Israel as "dry bones" as their dry bones and ashes would have been discarded into mass graves after their slaughter.
